Celebrate Our Accomplishments in 2009
Emmanuel United Church
Committee of Stewards
In 2009 we saw the successful completion of the next stage of repairs to the church roof by Mulder Construction. We recognize that this has been a long process in getting these repairs done but we are pleased to report that Mulder Construction will complete the final stage of repairs and restoration by summer of 2010.
Volunteers worked very hard this spring applying a fresh coat of paint to the upper hall and meeting room as well as the Ministers and secretary’s office. It was a group effort and the results are amazing – thank you to all who assisted.
The Fellowship Room saw the old wooden chairs removed and replaced by leather/metal chairs – thanks to Steve for moving all these chairs for us. The serving window in the Fellowship Room was fitted with a removable cover in order to improve heat retention.
Dean Baker donated beautiful custom built book shelves for the Minister’s office so Stephen could organize his books and materials. The book shelves look fabulous!
Thanks to Hank who weather sealed the south entrance of the main hall and installed ceramic flooring in the vestibule - the flooring is much safer now and looks great!
A big thanks to Jenny who donated her time and talent to refinish the wood railings at the front of the sanctuary – they look beautiful!
A special thank you to our tireless volunteer work crew including Steve, Bob, Doug, Hank and Iris who conducted many ‘little fixes’ and repairs around the church including fixing running toilets, replacing downspouts, creating additional storage space in the lower kitchen cupboards, hanging pictures, as well as creating and hanging curtains.
We are looking forward to a busy 2010 with the completion of the roofing work; repainting of the sanctuary and the installation of an accessible lift. These are amazing projects and we look forward to watching them as they progress!
